Learn to Sail on S/Y "Nafkrati" and other great yachts with
Aegean Sailing School (RYA) or The Athens Sailing Academy (ASA)

If you are a first-time skipper or if your skills are a little rusty why not take an RYA sailing course on S/Y Nafkrati on your upcoming holiday in Greece? You will gain confidence, experience, and an internationally-recognised certificate. Nafkrati is a very suitable yacht on which to learn to sail. She is fast, responsive and handles well.

The courses are run by Aegean Sailing School, an RYA recognised training centre based on the island of Aegina close to Athens. They will provide a fully qualified, English speaking RYA instructor to train you. RYA courses are known throughout the world for the quality of their training and course materials.

We recommend that everyone on board participates in the courses. Aegean Sailing School have special books for younger crew members. Those with little or no sailing experience should take the RYA Competent Crew course. This teaches you all you need to know to be a useful member of the crew. If you already have at least one week's practical experience and knowledge of navigation* you can take the RYA Day Skipper course. After successfully passing this course you can sail Nafkrati bareboat during a second week. We can even arrange for you to sail in company with one of the sailing school yachts if you need a little extra support.

Nafkrati is ideally suited to tuition for 2 - 4 people. Prices are from 995 Euro for five days tuition, including RYA course books and certificates. * Day Skipper candidates must also have sufficient knowledge of navigation, rule of the road etc. An online course is available through the school if required. Why not learn how to Sail at a school where sun shine and warm waters abound, rather than cold cloudy skies and Foul weather gear. The areas in which we sail, the Argolic Saronic gulf and Cyclades offer excellent sailing conditions. The weather can vary from a placid force 3 to a much more exciting force 6. Its always sunny with clear blue skies and the water temperature in mid summer is very warm. All this makes the need for fleeces and wet weather gear redundant . The school works with the American Sailing Association teaching scheme which is focused on teaching safe and responsible recreation sailing. The courses that are offered reflect a live aboard style teaching where you sail after you learn from the books. Learning to sailing in Greece offers many challenges not found in other waters, the most common challenge is the 'STERN TO THE QUAY' mooring manoeuvre something that all novice skippers have problems with. For the advanced sailor, join one of our adventure packages, such as our 'Yacht Racing package' or our 'Offshore milebuilder.' Whether it's 'Competent crew' certification or the 'Bare boat Skippers' License that you seek, we have courses to fit your needs.
